Hotel Alvear - Montevideo

Dated room decor that desperately needs an update!!! The hotel's remodeling left dust all around, and more thorough cleaning would be appreciated!!!

All the personnel was helpful. It was brand-new, tidy and with private bathroom.

Central location. Very good breakfast. Good internet.

Staff was not very cooperative; although we booked for 4 nights they gave us a small room in the backyard without windows. On our request for a better room we got the answer that rooms on the frontside of the hotel are not available. But after my conclusion that we then wanted to cancel 3 nights, there was suddenly a much better and bigger room for us available with streetview and daylight.

This place is a reliable pick for a quick stop in Montevideo with very good value for money. The breakfast spread was excellent, with a ton of fresh fruit and pastries to choose from, making mornings enjoyable. Check the hot water situation to avoid any surprises.

i appreciated staying at this secure hotel because of the quiet ambience. everything was nice, the continental breakfast was totally worth it. i was given double room with a mini bar, central heating, and an electronic key card.

Lovely friendly staff, and the rooms were so clean that you could probably eat your dinner off the floor!

Localitation near my congress

I anticipated luxury but was faced with a room reminiscent of the 1980s, it's quite a letdown when you have high expectations. How could I not be offered an upgrade for that inconvenience? Almost gave a good review, but just couldn't get past these issues.

The rooms and bathrooms need renovation , the breakfast was bad .

Fairly clean and simple hotel, particularly good location close to the main avenue. Affable staff during our stay. Brand-new and fairly quiet rooms with the bedroom as well as cupolas of buildings, and friendly service. Fine experience there.

The bathroom was newly renovated, but my room was quite dated and small.

Great location. Very centralized, near many restaurants in the heart of the city. Also very clean street and well lit at night.

The rooms are very small. The safe did not work. The closet doors did not close properly.
